CROSS COUNTRY: Ware (Race 2 of 4) - 17th January

Harlow Running Club competed in the second 'Run-In' Cross Country League Race hosted by Ware Joggers and run over a 5 mile farmland course. After the recent snow had melted the running conditions were extremely heavy and muddy underfoot making for exhaustive running. Harlow, suffering from a poor turnout and missing some top performers, finished in last place in the mens , womens and overall leagues behind Saffron Striders, Bishop's Stortford and Ware Joggers. This was a disappointing result after finishing in second place overall in the first race. After two races Harlow are now in third place overall. First Harlow runner to finish was Alan Broughton in a creditable 8th place. He was followed home by the consistent John Evans in 11th place and Jamie Jephcott in 17th place. First Harlow woman was Katie Herrington in a superb 7th place, followed by Dionne Jones in 11th place.

9th Stansted Stagger - 3rd January

We have official times, but these are complicated by the fact that we did not actually leave at the time we said we would, and even though we all finished essentially together, I was chatting to some people before I checked in, so my 'official' time is 3 minutes slower! However it must be said that David and Katie could have run faster and were only slowed by feeding me emergency jelly babies in the last 5 miles or so.

Times are official (watch), but they also include a coffee/sandwich/cake stop that was provided at the halfway checkpoint as part of the entrance fee, of ca. 20 minutes. I am also yet to check K&D's times.

Katie Herrington 4:51.00 (4:43.12)

David Ayling 4:51.00 (4:43.13)

Jon Steadman 4:54.00 (4:43.14)
