Hi,
Oxford Half Marathon (Sorry for previous website error) This is being resent with correct info. We would be very grateful if you could let your members know about the event.
A new prestigious running event taking place on Sunday 25th September at 9.30am in the ‘City of Dreaming Spires’. This exciting new road race is being staged from our Race HQ at the superb Kassam Stadium Complex, incorporating excellent changing and shower facilities for all competitors.
The one-lap course is fast and flat which makes it suitable for runners of all abilities, who will delight in racing through this historic scenic city whose famous ‘dreaming spires’ of its medieval churches and colleges dominate the skyline and where on 6th May 1954, 25 year old Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile at Iffley Road’s athletics track to record a landmark world record time of 3:59.4 in front of 3,000 spectators.
As well as having great facilities for all competitors, we have a lots of entertainment, not just for the runners but also for all spectators with a stadium finish and home to Oxford United Football Club. We are also extremely proud to be partnering local charity Helen and Douglas House, whose Oxford base provides the very best in hospice care for children and young adults. We look forward to raising awareness as well as money for this very worthy cause.
Come and join us on 25th September for what promises to be a memorable race and a day of activities for all the family – live the dream and run in the city where the most historic athletic achievement took place.
Closing date for entries are September 11th or when the 3000 limit has been reached.
