My stepdaughter has just taken up running and she is experiencing lower abdominal cramps after she has been running for about 10 mins. The cramps are so severe she has to stop, lay down and wait for them to pass. After doing some research she found this link to a forum discussing the exact same topic: http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/showthread.php?t=32132 However, whilst there are a lot of runners posting on the site about having the same symptoms, unfortunatly no-one has diagnosed what the cause is. Personally I'm inclined to think it maybe a dehydration issue but I just thought I'd check on here to see if any one can shed some light on it. Many thank VB7

Not one I have come accross personally, and I thought stitch at first but upon reading the article it is no tthat simple.
One thing I did wonder was if to poor core muscle strength was a factor? (I am no expert BTW)

Thanks for the reply Jon. It could well be weak core muscles. Hopefully it will improve as the body gets used to running. VB7
